The America for Bulgaria Foundation announces an open call for applications for the Pavlina Dokovska Scholarship, established in 2020, aimed at supporting young Bulgarian instrumentalists.
The scholarship supports participation in festivals, competitions, masterclasses, recordings, and artistic projects. It does not fund studies abroad or tuition-related expenses at educational institutions.
The total value of the scholarship is USD 5,000 and may be awarded to more than one applicant.
Eligibility
The scholarship is open to Bulgarian instrumentalists, regardless of their current country of residence. Applicants who have previously received the scholarship are not eligible to apply again for the next three years.
Age Groups
Group A: musicians aged 14–19
Group B: musicians aged 20–28
Application Requirements (all applicants)
Applicants must submit:
- Application letter (free text);
- Artistic biography;
- Recent artistic photograph;
- Two letters of recommendation;
- Description of the goals and project for which the scholarship is requested;
- Scanned copies of diplomas and awards received within the last two years;
- Copy of an identity document showing photo and date of birth;
- Contact details – address, email, and phone number.
Video Requirements
Group A
Video recording of at least 15 minutes, including two works of contrasting character.
Group B
Video recording of at least 30 minutes, including three works of contrasting character.
Video recordings must:
- be sent to office@afbulgaria.org;
- be uploaded to YouTube;
- include the applicant’s name (in Latin and Cyrillic) in the title field;
- include the applicant’s name (Latin and Cyrillic) and full program details in the Description section, formatted as:
- Composer – Title of the work – Duration.
Additional Information
Applications must include a clear and detailed budget and a precise description of the planned activity, including event name, dates, location, cost, and, where possible, a link.
If participation requires prior selection, proof of having passed the preliminary round must be provided.
Applications with incomplete or missing information will not be considered.
