In 2005, American Foundation for Bulgaria - branch Bulgaria, has aquaried 17 boxes of glass plates photographic negatives from early 20th century. This reach colection containes pictures of Roman, and Bizantine buildings, churches, and Ottoman mosques from various villages, towns and cities in Thrace, Egean and Vardar Macedonia. The collection has documented some of the first archelogical studies of Bulgarian scientists.
The Gipson Arcive was donated to the Bulgarian National Archives Agency, and is available to the public and scientist for review and research. Before making the donation, American Foundation for Bulgaria - branch Bulgaria has organized a big exhibition of photographs from the Artchive at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum, of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The Gipson Archives were aquired with a grant form the Tianderah Foundation.
